There are a lot of misconceptions about hypnosis. Often at the mention of hypnosis and hypnotists are images of diabolical men attempting to put you under a spell in order to get you to tell them your deepest secrets or to carry out their evil deeds. Or, perhaps it may conjure up images of a flashy showman causing people in the audience to cluck like chickens. This, however, is not what hypnotherapy is nor is it what we at Full Life Hypnotherapy do with hypnosis.
Hypnosis is a heightened state of awareness that leads to self-improvement behavioral modification. Deep within all of us is subconscious programming that was instilled in us as we were growing up. This includes all of our experiences, both good and bad. We are often not aware of this programming until we discover that something is affecting our lives somehow and we can't seem to understand what it is or why. With hypnotherapy, we work to uncover the underlying issue and then replace that issue with new, affirmative suggestions and images that essentially rewrite the script that is in your subconscious. This leads to improved performance in the various areas of our lives such as our jobs and extracurricular activities, including our interactions with others. It can also lead to healthier behaviors which further contribute to your sense of well-being. When in the hypnotic state, you are always completely in control and are continually aware of what is going on around you.
